Our Lady of Walsingham and Richeldis de Faverches looks at major parts of British history from the Battle of Hastings to the present day with a specific look at the role of the English Martyrs in the Church and England now.

Blessed Margaret Pole, Countess of Salisbury, mother of Cardinal Reginald Pole, English Martyr

Margaret Pole the Blessed, Countess of Salisbury (14 August 1473 - 27 May 1541) was an English Martyr of the Catholic Church. She was the daughter of George of Clarence, who was the brother of King Edward IV and King Richard III. She was one of two women in sixteenth-century England to be a peeress in her own right with no titled husband.  One of the few surviving members of the Plantagent dynasty after the War of the Roses, she was executed in 1541 at the command of King Henry VIII who was her cousin Elizabeth's son and also father of her Goddaughter the Princess Mary Tudor.  She was beheaded while in her 70's.  Pope Leo XIII beatified her as a martyr for the on 29 December 1886.  For a detailed presentation of her life in Tudor England, her story on DVD from Mary's Dowry Productions, Catholic film production company based in England:
