Our new film presenting the life of Saint Bede began production today with an hour and a half spent filming in Sussex.  A selection of simple visuals were filmed in beautiful Sussex scenery which we use to help the narrative overlay flow well with combined visuals of Sacred art, historical paintings, maps and relevant photographs, footage of scenery and relevant locations.  Visuals include imagery of Saint Bede reading, praying, writing and contemplating.  The film will have a lot of interesting information in a simple style presenting the life of this great Englishman.

Saint Nicholas Owen: St. Nicholas Owen was a Jesuit lay brother who made priest holes and secret rooms in houses throughout England for hunted Catholic priests to hide.  Since his journey took place during the Gunpowder Plot we look in detail at the history of England at this time as well as many spiritual aspects of Catholic England and the Faith.

The narrative of St. Nicholas Owen’s life and spirituality written and spoken from his own point of view for the whole length of the film. Original music to accompany the narrative.

   Saint Anne Line:

Saint Anne Line was raised a Calvinist in Elizabethan England but converted with her brother to the outlawed Catholic Faith.  She married fellow Catholic Roger Line and their poignant story is believed to be the theme of Shakespeare’s poem ‘The Phoenix and the Turtle’.  After Roger’s exile and death the young widowed Saint Anne Line worked with Fr. John Gerard to hide hunted Catholic priests and arranged outlawed Masses.  She was eventually arrested for this and executed at the Tyburn gallows.  As a young English woman with a deep love of the Catholic faith she is an inspiration for Catholic women and girls.

The life of Saint Anne Line in a narrative representing her own words for the whole length of the film.  Original music to accompany the narrative.

Saint Bede is known as the Father of English History and is also England's Doctor of the Church.

We have been asked many times to produce a film about Saint Bede so will be working on his lovely story this year and hope to release it soon.

Plague priest, a film about Saint Henry Morse, English Martyr, Jesuit priest

The plague priest, Saint Henry Morse, has a fascinating story of bravery in 1635 London.
Mary's Dowry Productions film about the Priest of the Plague is due for release soon!
Known as the Priest of the Plague due to his work with the persecuted English Catholics and plague victims during the 1630's plague epidemic, this Jesuit priest is a wonderful example of faith and determination during difficult times.

He worked with fellow English Martyr Saint John Southworth (OUT NOW) but also had a heroic mission of his own, finding himself hunted, captured, arrested and exiled many times during his work in England as he worked to bring the outlawed Sacraments to the faithful. 

He was finally imprisoned and executed at Tyburn in 1645 leaving us an inspiring testimony relevant for England today.

Saint Mildred is an obscure English Saint. She was the great, great granddaughter of King Ethelbert of Kent, that holy King who received Saint Augustine of Canterbury and the Catholic Faith into England.  She was sent to France to study and there suffered at the hands of a temperamental Abbess who had designs on Saint Mildred for her nephew Sir Claude.  There was a miraculous escape from a roaring oven and a flight to a ship while bearing the holy Relic of one of the Nail's used in the crucifixion.  When she stepped off of her mother's ship once back in England she left her footprint in the rock and it was kept as a relic for centuries.

She at one time outshone Saint Augustine himself in England due to the English people's love of her.

Saint Simon Stock is one of our great English Saints and the Shrine at Ayelsford in Kent is one of the few remaining Shrines to Our Lady in England.

St. John Fisher, the devout Bishop of Rochester, is loved by thousands today not only for his priestly example but for his heroic defence of the Catholic Faith in Tudor England that saw him earn the crown of Martyrdom.

Saint Alexander Briant, a 25 year old Catholic priest from Somerset, was executed at the infamous Triple gallows of Tyburn with Saint Edmund Campion in 1581.

Saint RICHARD GWYN, the first Welsh martyr of Elizabeth I’s reign, was born about 1537 in Lianidloes, Montgomeryshire. He studied for a short time at Oxford, and then went to St. John’s College, Cambridge. Returning to Wales about 1562, he became a schoolmaster and taught in Flintshire and Denbighshire. He married and had six children. Arrested in Wrexham in 1578, he escaped, but he was arrested again in 1580. After being tried and remanded several times at the Assizes, he was finally condemned to death at Wrexham, in October1584, for refusing to recognize the Queen as head of the Catholic Church in England and persuading others to become Catholics.

Two days before his death he was offered his freedom if he would conform to the State religion. As he left the prison on his way to execution, he said to his fellow prisoners: ‘Weep not for me, for I do but pay the rent before the rent day.’ On the scaffold he forgave his executioner, acknowledged Elizabeth I to be the lawful Queen of England and denied that he had ever committed any treason against her; but he still refused to recognize her as head of the Church.

 As he prayed, ‘O God, be merciful to me a sinner,’ he was pushed off the ladder and cut down while still alive and disembowelled.  St Richard Gwyn, Catholic layman suffered death for hearing the Mass and for being a Roman Catholic. He died at Wrexham on 15 October 1584.

Blessed Margaret Pole, Countess of Salisbury, mother of Cardinal Reginald Pole, English Martyr

Margaret Pole the Blessed, Countess of Salisbury (14 August 1473 - 27 May 1541) was an English Martyr of the Catholic Church. She was the daughter of George of Clarence, who was the brother of King Edward IV and King Richard III. She was one of two women in sixteenth-century England to be a peeress in her own right with no titled husband.  One of the few surviving members of the Plantagent dynasty after the War of the Roses, she was executed in 1541 at the command of King Henry VIII who was her cousin Elizabeth's son and also father of her Goddaughter the Princess Mary Tudor.  She was beheaded while in her 70's.  Pope Leo XIII beatified her as a martyr for the on 29 December 1886.  For a detailed presentation of her life in Tudor England, her story on DVD from Mary's Dowry Productions, Catholic film production company based in England:

Saint Margaret Clitherow was executed for her Catholic Faith in Elizabethan York.
Saint Anne Line was hanged at Tyburn for sheltering hunted Catholic priests
Saint Margaret Ward was executed at Tyburn for helping a Catholic priest escape from prison and for refusing to deny the Catholic Faith.
